Submitted Plan Name
Pima Dems Highly Competitive D17 with slight Democratic advantage
Plan Type
Legislative
Date Submitted
Sun, 12/12/2021 - 17:00
Organization
Pima County Democratic Party
Plan Description
N/A
Plan Objective
Oro Valley, Casas Adobes, Catalina, Saddlebrooke, Oracle, San Manuel, Mammoth This map modifies Draft Map 10.0 by shifting D18 to the eastern edge of the county, encompassing neighboring communities in East Tucson, as well as Tanque Verde and the Catalina Mountains. The Towns of Marana and Red Rocks are then added into the larger Pinal district of D16, connecting them with similar rural communities of Eloy, Casa Grande, and Florence, among others. Finally, D17 is expanded further northeast into Pinal County, preserving the Saddlebrooke/Oracle/San Manuel/Mammoth community of interest, and unites Casas Adobes with Oro Valley. This puts D17 in the highly competitive range, significantly reducing the Democrat/Republican divide of the district.
